OBJECTIVES

Collective Management

The DBCA aims to the collective management of author’s rights of film and audiovisual directors in Brazil and to create and maintain a social assistance program for its members.

Collection and Distribution

With the support of its affiliates and other associations already engaged in collective management in their territories, the DBCA aims to promote the institutional regulation of the collection and distribution of rights related to the public communication of audiovisual works under the framework of Law 9610/98. In other words, similar to what recently happened in Chile, the goal is to explicitly include in the revised Brazilian Author’s Rights Law the right of audiovisual directors to receive remuneration for their works.

Reciprocity Agreements

At the international level, the DBCA seeks to establish reciprocity agreements with the previously mentioned collective management societies affiliated with ADAL (Alianza de Directores Audiovisuales Latino-Americanos), such as DAC (Argentina), DASC (Directores Audiovisuales Sociedad Colombiana de Gestión/Colombia), ATN (Sociedad de Autores Nacionales de Teatro, Cine e Audiovisuales/Chile), Directores México (Sociedad Mexicana de Directores, Realizadores de Obras Audiovisuales, Sociedad de Gestión Colectiva de Interés Público/Mexico), and European societies such as SACD (Société des Auteurs et Compositeurs Dramatiques/France), SGAE (Sociedad General de Autores y Editores/Spain), and DAMA (Derechos de Autor de Medios Audiovisuales/Spain).
